Attachement disorders predicted by ECR, case studies of teenager girls with addiction problems in institutional upbringing
Horváthová, Klára ; Libra, Jiří (advisor) ; Pešek, David (referee)
BACKGROUND: Attachment disorders have an impact on the future quality of interpersonal relationships and are related to disorders in adolescence, such as the tendency to engage in risky behaviour. Clients who are placed in the diagnostic institute and affiliated units have disturbed relationships and at the same time have been shown to exhibit risky behaviour. The family backgrounds from which clients come are often dysfunctional or disrupted, and attachment disorders may also play a role. OBJECTIVES: Determination of the percentage of attachment disorders in girls ordered into institutional care due to substance use and subsequent development of case studies for selected disorders predicted by the ECR (Experience of close relationships). Thus, the aim is to take a deeper look at the issue of attachment disorders and adolescent girls with ordered institutional education METHODS: Quantitative research - submission of a questionnaire survey to ECR and subsequent statistical evaluation Qualitative research: case studies of clients with proven attachment disorder in the form of semi-structured interviews. Discussion of data obtained in both parts of the research. RESULTS: Research has shown that attachment disorders are widespread in this target group. Some emotional attachment was assessed by the...
Attitudes of children in the selected facility to the issue of their placement and their experiences with addictive substances
Dvořáková, Lucie ; Váchová, Alena (advisor) ; Blažková, Veronika (referee)
The thesis explores the attitudes of children in a selected residential school towards the issue of their placement and their experiences of substance abuse. The theoretical part presents the definition of the term addictive substances, including their division and prevention of use; children's home with school, discusses the reasons for the placement of children in this facility and prevention of risky behavior. The practical part presents an analysis of the reasons for the placement of children in a particular facility as well as an analysis of their experiences with addictive substances before their placement in the facility. The aim is to find out what attitude children placed in a children's home with school have to the issue of the reasons for their placement and to the use of addictive substances. On the basis of the evaluation, with the help of the analysis of the case files and interviews with the selected children and their teachers, a personal development programme for each participant, a prevention programme and a proposal for projects focused on addictive substances for the first and second grade of primary school are proposed. As a result of the investigation, it is found that the two areas (the analysis of the dossier and the narrative extracted from the interviews with the...
Comparison of Access of Workers of Children´s Home, Primary School and School Canteen Radenín to Children with Disabilities and to Children without Disabilities
ZHORNÁ, Michaela
The aim of this work was to map the activities of children's home workers in the care of children with disabilities and children without disabilities. The research set consisted of six staff members from the Children's Home, Primary School, and School Canteen Radenín, one of whom was a social worker who is an essential component in childcare. The research was carried out by qualitative research. A method of questioning was used to answer the research questions and a semi-structured interview was the technique. The data obtained from the interviews was evaluated by open coding and then breaking the codes into categories. Based on the research carried out, it has emerged that the education of children in a children´s home varies greatly, due to a visit to two types of schools when children come with different difficulty of tasks. There needs to be a difference in access to education for children with disabilities and children without disabilities. This brings me to the answer to the second research question, when workers in education with children with disabilities have to use certain specific aids to make it easier for children to work. Workers with specific aids not only encounter children with disabilities in education, but also in developing motor and skills in a boy with cerebral palsy. The work brings knowledge in the field of education of children with disabilities and the use of special aids when working with these children. The aids can be educational cards, which serve as an aid to the development of communication skills, or an auxiliary table for multiplication. It is clear from the research that an assistant educator is an indispensable component in working with children with disabilities because these children need individual care.
Preparation of Children for Leaving the Children's Home
BICEROVÁ, Markéta
This bachelor thesis called Preparing Children for Leaving the Children's Home deals with the preparation of children growing up in children's homes for their independent leaving of the institution and their preparation for life in general, on the part of the educators. In addition, this bachelor thesis is concerned with the life stories of children who have already left the children's home. The main goal of this work is to discover how children are prepared for their independent life and whether, from the children's point of view, this preparation on the part of the children's home has been sufficient. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part describes the institutional education and its legislative frame, the children's home, the rights and duties of the children placed there and the whole process of leaving the children's home. Finally, some projects supporting the children who leave the children's home are listed. The practical part of the thesis deals with researching the preparation of children for leaving the children's home, both from the educators' and the children's point of view. The research group consisted of nine educators working in unnamed children's homes in South Bohemia and four adults who grew up in a children's home. The research methods used were the method of qualitative research, the interview method and the technique of semi-structured interview. For evaluating the data the ATLAS.ti software was used, open coding was performed followed by data categorization. On the basis of this research, both the individual research questions and the goal of the work were answered. As emerged from the research, the individuals leaving the children's home just after reaching their full age or at a very young age have problems entering their independent life, mainly in the area of finance, housing, employment, integration into society and creating social relationships. In spite of the intensive preparation taking place in children's homes, it is difficult for the leaving individuals to succeed in the society at such a young age without any help of a close person, who could be helpful in solving problematic situations but also in solving everyday issues. The findings of this bachelor thesis can be used both by institutional and protective education workers and by the students of health and social studies and pedagogy. It could also be a useful aid for OSPOD workers and other specialists or the non-professional public who are interested in these issues.
Application of Supervision in School Facilities for the Performance of Institutional Education or Protective Education and in School Facilities for Preventive Educational Care
HELLEROVÁ, Kristýna
Supervision is considered a standard part of the professional growth of workers in the field of helping professions i.e., those who are in direct contact with people, their problems, and emotions at work. Supervision allows these workers to think about the quality of their work, increase their ability to reflect and self-reflect. The goal of supervision in specific facilities, but also in general, is the development of professionals and personal competencies of individual employees and teams. There is a methodological instruction for the provision of supervision for school facilities for the performance of institutional education or protective education and in school facilities for preventive educational care. Individual devices also have defined ways of personal support and professional development of workers. Supervision in school facilities is provided to pedagogical staff as part of work activities outside direct pedagogical activities. We divide the facilities into two groups according to where they fall, either under the Ministry of Education or under the region. Those facilities that fall under the region do not have to provide supervision to their employees. The aim of supervision is to improve the quality of multidisciplinary care for vulnerable minors, or persons under 19 years of age, placed in school facilities for institutional or protective education, minors, or adults until the end of secondary education, which is provided preventive educational care. The funds that facilities receive for their activities are normatively allocated, but their volume may not be sufficient to be used to financially ensure quality supervision in school facilities for institutional education or protective education and school facilities for preventive education. The research group consisted of employees of the mentioned facilities throughout the Czech Republic. The goal was achieved by using quantitative research, the method of a questionnaire using the Likert scale. The research showed that the most common form of supervision in these facilities is external supervision in the form of group and individual. Furthermore, it was found that the employees of these facilities are mostly satisfied with the supervision and its appearance in the facility. The data needed to process the hypotheses were analyzed in IBM SPSS Statistics at a specified level of significance = 95%. Thanks to the elaboration of hypotheses in the research, it subsequently turned out that we cannot prove in the case of this research, that school facilities for institutional or protective education and school facilities for preventive educational care, which fall under the MŠMT, have a more positively evaluated supervision from employees than facilities that do not fall under the MŠMT, so this hypothesis was rejected, and the null hypothesis was accepted. In the next hypothesis, it was not significantly proven that the evaluation of the benefits of supervision is influenced by the employee's job position. In the case of the last hypothesis, again, it has not been proven that length affects the evaluation of the benefit of supervision. The results of this diploma thesis can be an inspiration for school facilities as a topic for a possible change or as a positive feedback on the supervision implemented in them in the facility. They can also be used by supervisors and other staff involved in implementing supervision in education. Finally, it will serve as an information material for students and other professional public who are interested in this issue.
How Children in Foster Homes Perceive Their Life Situation
SEKALOVÁ, Eva
In my bachelor's thesis, I deal with the issue of children placed in care institutions. The aim of the work is to find out the current view of children from children's homes, whether they feel their social disadvantage with respect to peers in the school environment, on social networks and during social events. The work is divided into the theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part describes the functioning of the children's home, as a facility for institutional education, the area of social disadvantage and its impact on children at risk, and then discusses the approaches of social work related to the issue. In the practical part, a quantitative research strategy using a method of questioning is applied. The collection of research data took place in August to September 2019 using an anonymous questionnaire, to which 112 children, aged 7-18, from 11 children's homes from the South Bohemian, South Moravian and Moravian-Silesian regions responded. After processing and statistical evaluation of the data by the Chi-square method, applying a test of independence in the contingency table, my hypothesis was not confirmed, as only two out of fifteen questions showed a negative relationship between children's stay in the children's home and the behaviour of the environment. As a result, children from children's homes, in most cases, do not subjectively perceive their social disadvantage. This bachelor's thesis can provide an up to date information material for children's home management and it could also be used as a basis for further research on the subjective perception of children being placed in institutional care.
Special pedagogical legislationin the daily life of special education clientele
MOJDLOVÁ, Tereza
The bachelor thesis focuses on the legislation involved in the child's institutional upbringing (ÚV) from the time when the Authority of The Child's Social and Legal Protection (OSPOD) takes over. Special attention is paid to the question of which legislative departments are associated with the child integrally and most frequently. Attention is also paid to the client's interaction with the outside world (layman community). The work is focused on clients from children's homes, as an example of institutional care. The first goal of the bachelor thesis is to map the current legislation concerning the performance of institutional care and facilities for the performance of institutional care, ascertaining the potential contradiction between the letter of law and the reality of life in facilities of the Central Committee. The second aim of the thesis is to evaluate the impact of staying in institutional facilities (children's homes) on the clients' further life after the end of the institutional care regulation itself. In the bachelor thesis the research is realized by qualitative strategy with case study design. The data collection technique is semi-structured interview, direct standardized observation, and document analysis. The interviews are designed to respond appropriately to research questions. The research set consist of a) clients of selected facilities of the Children's Home in South Bohemia b) directors of children's homes in the South Bohemian Region c) lay public
Speech therapy intervention in institutional education
Drdová, Petra ; Kotvová, Miroslava (advisor) ; Komorná, Marie (referee)
The diploma thesis on the topic "Speech therapy intervention in institutional education" deals with the issue of implementation of speech therapy intervention for children growing up in institutional education and requiring speech therapy. The individual chapters of the theoretical part focus on speech and its functions; describe the ontogenetic development of speech, impaired communication ability, and briefly characterise different types of impairment. The theoretical part deals with the speech therapy intervention in its entirety, i.e. diagnostics, therapy, and prevention. It also includes a short insight into the speech therapy intervention system in other countries. Lastly, the theoretical part of the work focuses on the area of substitute educational care and describes its influence on the development of the child. The practical part aimed to find out information about the implementation of speech therapy in selected institutional education facilities in Prague and the Central Bohemian Region. The research was carried out by using qualitative and quantitative data collection methods - semi- structured interviews and electronic questionnaires. The conclusion of the thesis provides answers to previously formulated research questions and at the same time, it includes recommendations for...
